Mick Fanning closed out his Championship Tour career at the 2018 Rip Curl Pro, seventeen years after winning that same event as a wildcard. He came up through Coolangatta on Australia's Gold Coast, earned his tour qualification in 2001, and spent the next two decades as one of the biggest forces on tour. Three world titles, in 2007, 2009, and 2013. Twenty-two event wins. Eleven top-five finishes. Numbers that put him among the greatest surfers Australia has produced.
