ABOUT
Filipe Toledo grew up in Ubatuba, Brazil, the son of two-time national champion Ricardo Toledo, who coached him from the start. He moved his whole family to San Clemente, California, in 2014 as his career took off, and that stretch of coastline became his second home. He's built a reputation as the fastest surfer on tour, known for explosive, technical surfing at waves like Jeffreys Bay, Snapper Rocks, and his backyard at Lower Trestles.
Toledo won back-to-back World Titles in 2022 and 2023, the first surfer to do it since John John Florence in 2017. He's picked up 17 Championship Tour event wins along the way. He stepped back from full-time competition in 2024 to focus on the World Surfing Games and the Paris Olympics, where he lined up alongside Joao Chianca and Gabriel Medina for Team Brazil. Toledo surfs fast and clean, and two world titles back to back is proof it works under pressure.
